What Are Faculty Saying?
“Somehow, my students really got “it”! From day one we talked about awareness, and awareness of other people’s awareness…we dug into each module and evaluated Morals, Ethics, Actions, Faith. We shared stories, and examples, and videos, and more stories. And we had human interaction. Sometimes we just talked, and did away with the lesson. I would be happy to share some of my student’s reflections and feedback. I said it this summer, and I’ll say it again, THANK YOU for putting the structure together and giving me (us) the means to teach our students about intention and awareness, and human-ness. I am so proud to teach/share this material.” -Fall 2019 Faculty

“…you guys get an A+ for course design because it is one of the best I’ve seen and I’ve worked at a number of universities and I have to say the course design is phenomenal, and I enjoyed working with it. So, we appreciate the opportunity to borrow parts of it, I thought it was wonderful.” -Fall 2019 Faculty
“…So, we had great, great, great discussions with respect, with learning, and then we kept going back to those prior discussions, so what I liked about the whole module was how it was seamless, it all interconnected in some way…” -Fall 2019 Faculty
“…I liked that my students- I could see them get better as they gave their reflections, like their reflections. Me and my- A couple of the instructors were gathered around, like that first month, and we were just like we wanna cry, because they were so terrible. And then they just got better and better and better. I think almost every one of my- Well, I would say almost every one of my students, they really by the end of their final reflection, I was like, okay, you get what we’re trying to do. And so that was really cool, and I really liked what that could bring to the classroom…” -Fall 2019 Faculty
“…. I think I’ve been really surprised of the change in my students. I was surprised by how willing they were to engage… I was shocked by how many of them, dug into this. More than half, most of my class, they were here, they were doing it, they were ready to learn and change…” -Fall 2019 Faculty
“…I liked the community it brought to teaching. I liked these kind of meetings. I liked being able to talk to people, and that was new for me. So, I really liked that…” -Fall 2019 Faculty

“…I think it’s about identity development. And I have to say that this course is the closest that I’ve seen in a long time that helps people really discover who they actually are and who they want to be. Not that they came up with the answers, but it was they’re closer now than they were in August. So, they’ve made steps…” -Fall 2019 Faculty
What Are Students Saying?
“I would highly recommend that for them [other students] just to help them grow as individuals, because I feel like that class was very good for personal growth…” -Fall 2019 Student
“I would highly recommend that for them [other students] …, because I feel like that class was very good for… helping us to think more like an adult and kind of a college student instead of … to help us transition from, especially to transition from high school and the ways of thinking that kind of encompass high school.” -Fall 2019 Student
“I would definitely recommend it to my friends too. That course really helped me a lot because it was kind of different. From the point of view of high school, how they explain what college is, and then when you come to college, it’s a whole different, and new vision. Everything is different. So, I would definitely recommend the class to my friends.” -Fall 2019 Student
“…taking initiative on certain products like doing the compassion games, I’ve felt like I’ve taken a good amount of initiatives as far as doing the videos and making sure that I get myself out there to get good content for our final video, be able to make sure that it is the best that I can make it myself.” -Fall 2019 Student
“…as far as the compassion games go, it seemed like a lot of people were very excited about it, in my experience and, as far as I go, I was very excited to take part in it. It seems like something that was lot bigger than just myself, or some of the other students. I felt like it was more of a movement. And, it was really nice to take part in something like that because it’s not every day that you get to take initiative like that, especially a school to do something nice like that and trying to showcase some of the random acts of kindness that people do on a regular basis and the hope that that will be very good visual marker to showcase to other people what it means to have compassion and how to treat other people.” -Fall 2019 Student
[About compassion game] “… this was a group that had made this. They had made a tree. They just made the … what’s the part that I’m, the trunk and the roots of it and what we did, what they did, is they had made 500 or more leaves and what you would do is there was a basket full of leaves. And, you would take a leaf and you would write on it, your random act of kindness that you did throughout that guy and you would put it a pile of the ones that are completed and then, at the end of the day, the students that were in charge of taking care of the tree, would take those leaves and paste them up on top of the tree. And, now that we have over 500, the tree looks very full and shows our progress through the games.” -Fall 2019 Student
“Getting to really to apply those morals that I learned, helping other people out when I saw somebody needed help. Just getting to know other people and getting to talk and have a good conservation, and make new friends. That was very helpful for me.” -Fall 2019 Student
“I will say that it [most helpful outcome of the course] was, for me, interacting with students too. Because I got to know them, and they got to know me, and, at first, I thought I wasn’t going to have any friends and that I was going to be by myself in class. But I got to know them, so every time we did a group worksheet or something, we used to get together, talk about it, and we reflect on it.” -Fall 2019 Student
