This incredibly powerful photo, to me, is a great display of compassion and empathy. Just the expression on the man’s face as he holds the little girl expresses so much. He appears to be an American soldier, comforting the little girl of his “enemy.” When the uniforms come off and we realize what is happening around us and the people affected by our actions, you are able to fully recognize the power you possess. This is a picture of man who appears to be exhausted and tired of heartbreak and while the little girl may be young, he is already quite aware of all the pain and suffering she has already experienced in her short time and the pain she will continue to have to go through.
